The Reels
At Bell Reel Co. it's all about spey reels, traditional gear and pawl spey reels. Produced in two diameters and two widths, virtually any rod and line weight combination can be accommodated.
All reel frames and spools are machined from 6061 aluminum billet, and anodized for appearance and durability. The axles, gears and pawls are made from titanium, providing corrosion resistance, strength and lightweight. Depending on the desired appearance and finished weight of the reel, finish hardware is either titanium or brass.
The modular design of the reels allows for easy servicing or parts replacement due to damage or wear. With proper maintenance, servicing/rebuilding, these reels will last a lifetime (or two).
Keep in mind that Bell Reel Co. is a one man operation, producing reels in very small quantities, with the emphasis being on quality not quantity.
3 sizes
3 3/4" diameter, 1" arbor width - weights ranging from 10.8-12oz depending on the hardware selection. Holds roughly 150yds of 20# dacron backing. This is a great size for 6-7wt graphite rods in the 11 1/2' to 12 1/2' range, and light lined bamboo rods. $750
3 3/4" diameter, 1.375" arbor width - weights ranging from 11.5-12.5oz, 150yds +/- of 30# dacron. The jack of all trades; 6-8wt lines on graphite rods up to 13', and bamboo in the 10-11' range. $775
4" diameter, 1.2" arbor width - weights ranging from 11.8-12.8oz, 150yds +/- of 30# dacron. Great choice for longer rods, 13'+, and line weights in the 7-8wt range. $800
Reels will be offered in both LHW(left hand wind; winding the knob with your left hand) and RHW(right hand wind; winding the knob with your right hand), and noted in the reel description.
All new reels include an exclusive, hand stitched, suede reel bag by Featherweight Fly Company.
Blemished and pre-owned reels
During the manufacturing process, parts occasionally become blemished. Instead of scrapping pieces with minor cosmetic defects, I will use these parts to produce mechanically perfect reels, then sell as "Blemished" at a substantially reduced price.
Pre-owned reels will be refurbished and priced accordingly.
Blemished and pre-owned reels will not include a suede reel bag.
